Day 6 (20/05/09) – Rio Maior (day off, 0 miles)

Had a good lie in to catch up on some much needed sleep. We then spent the day exploring Rio Maior’s small city centre, lolling about on benches reading, taking photos and enjoying Portuguese pastries. It really is a sleepy little town and doesn’t liven up until lunchtime when everyone emerges to partake in their siesta. Then it’s a ghost town again from 2pm onwards. The old part of the city centre is maze of winding cobbled streets and alleys with some lovely villas and some crumbling old ruins (not just Gordon!).
We finally found an internet café so we managed to upload some photos on this blog. Carb loaded for dinner again – Gordon had a massive pizza while I indulged in some lovely creamy pasta… mmm.
